We've been experimenting with free-handing patterns as we work on market prep for our upcoming December 14th Holiday craft fair. Surprisingly, it's going pretty well! So far we've made at least three patterns from scratch, and today it's time to share the first of them.

Meet Milly, the Free Crochet Pattern Mitten
Milly the Mitten is the first of a few different crochet patterns we'll release, and the only free one! Milly makes a perfect addition to any holiday market display as she's no-sew, works up in a half hour or less, and requires no stuffing. She can be made into a keychain or an ornament, which is my favorite method. You can turn her into an amigurumi with safety eyes and a smile, or if you want, leave it as a plain mitten shape and embroider a heart, initials, or other design on the front! If you use the recommended yarn and hook size, your Milly will end up approximately 4 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. So let's get crafting!

Add 9mm eyes, 2 full stitches apart, between rows 5 and 6. Embroider mouth and blush details if desired. You do not have to stuff the mitten.
11. Fold the mitten in half so the thumb is on the edge. You may have to make a few extra sc to end up in the right spot. Sc 6, inserting your hook through both ends of the mitten to close.
Fasten Off and push the yarn tail into the body of the plush. Add a keychain if desired, or to make it an ornament, attach white yarn to the top of the mitten, ch 15, and sl st to the same space you attached the yarn to secure.
